Gateshead Scout District

Gateshead Scouts consists of nine Scout Groups and various Explorer Scout Units located across the Borough of Gateshead, east of the River Derwent (note that west of the River Derwent is Blaydon Scout District)

We also own Victoria Road Scout Centre in Bensham which is the home of one of our Scout Groups and is also where we hold many of our district events and competitions.

Gateshead Scouts also operates Whickham Thorns Outdoor Activity Centre on Market Lane in the Whickham/Dunston area, which is also open to the public.

Our Scout Shop is also located at Whickham Thorns and is open on Saturday mornings for members to purchase badges, uniforms etc.

Gateshead Scouts are also in the final stages of acquiring and equipping a campsite in the west of Gateshead Borough, which will provide woodland camping to our members and others.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
